Strengthening of food safety and consumer protection in the Russian FederationThe German-Russian project has the objective to provide technical assistance and advice to Russian Ministeries and Institutions who are responsible for food safety and consumer protection.
The main beneficiary on the Russian side is the Federal Service for Consumer Protection and Human well-being (Rospotrebnadzor). Further partners in the implementation of the project are the working group on technical regulation of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation,the National Institute for Technical Regulation (NITR), the Federal Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology (FGUS) and the Institute for Food of the Russian Academy for Medicine. In addition, the project is collaborating with the territorial administration of Rospotrebnadzor in the region Perm and the municipality of Togliatti in Oblast Samara on the development of consumer advice offices.
The project programme focuses on the advice on Food Safety legislation in conjunction with the Law for Technical Regulation, on food inspection and the improvement of consumer protection by enlargement of consumer information and consultation.
Improvement of milk production systems in Kaliningrad/Russian Federation The German-Russian project aims to increase the competitiveness of milk production in Oblast Kaliningrad and to contribute though to the improvement of the value chain in rural areas of Kaliningrad region. The political project partner on the Russian side is the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery of the Oblast Kaliningrad. Executing partner is the Milk Producers’ Association of Kaliningrad (APM) which is an association of the larger milk production enterprises. Other executive partners are the National Technical University of Kaliningrad (KSTU), the Cattle breeding organisation of Kaliningrad and regional agricultural administrations involved in the implementation of the project.
Main components
Main components of the project programme are the implementation of a systematic extension service for milk production enterprises, the analysis and further development of the agricultural policy to support milk production in Kaliningrad, the modernisation of cattle breeding, the improvement of milk quality and the education and training of specialists and executive staff of milk production enterprises and service organisations. The project office is located in Kaliningrad. the project is implemented in consortium with the Institute for Animal Breeding at University of Kiel (CAU). Team leader is Dr. Alexander Toews.
