Animal Identification and Registration (I&R) - Phase II, Montenegro

The overall objective of the project to enhance the newly introduced Identification and Registration (I&R) system for cattle and expend this system to cover sheep and goats. The project will also explore the possibility of future expansion to other animal species, in line with EU standards. Furthermore, the project shall link this animal I&R with animal disease surveillance information into an integrated Veterinary Information System.

Main objectives of the project are:
  • To strengthen the bovine I&R system, expand the system to the ovine and caprine species, design a veterinary information system (VIS) including detailed implementation, staffing and financial plans and obtain approval for this system

  • To procure IT equipment, supplies and services and securing its delivery installation and operation

  • To create awareness with stakeholders and the general public of the expanded I&R and VIS, make all participants fully aware of their obligations and provide training on their duties in the system. Create visibility of EU assistance

  • To make the IR system for bovine, ovine and caprine species fully operational and accessible for the other agricultural databases

  • To make the planned VIS operational with respect to I&R of the bovine, ovine and caprine species and veterinary diseases surveillance
